How can I choose a local app to open my file on iX?
When choosing to open a file through the iX app, you are able to choose a local application on your computer. If you are not able to open your file with a local app, just change the file properties of the file.
Here, we are changing the local application to open the EPUB file of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" to Calibre instead of the default application.
For Windows:
1. Navigate to the folder that is in the Sync Pool. In this case, it is Documents > Books (or it can be LWSync). Right click on the file and select "Properties".
2. Select Change.
3. Choose the desired application. In this case, we want to use calibre.
Note: Some applications may need to manually to searched by clicking on "More Apps"; click on "Look for more apps on this PC", and navigating to the Program Files/Program Files (x86) folder that it is installed to.
4. Click on Apply and OK.
For macOS:
1. Open the sync folder in Finder and right click the file. Choose "Get Info".
2. In the pop-up window, choose "Open With" and choose your local application. Here we choose calibre.
Note: If your desired app is not present, choose "Other..." and choose the Applications tab in the new window. Select your desired app, choose "Add" and then close the previous window.
