Adding a NAS drive to your Amber X for remote access
Amber X now gives the ability to connect to most NAS (Network Attached Storage) drives. This gives you the ability to access your NAS device from anywhere with an internet connection, as well as over your Amber iX app on your mobile device! To complete these steps, you can prepare by finding the IP address of your device, as well as the login information (username and password). To begin, follow the instructions that follow:
1. Both drives, the Amber X and your NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive, need to be connected to the same local network.
2. Access the Amber X OS from your browser of choice, (ie: Safari, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Chrome). using the address: http://Latticenode.local
From there, you'll need to click the "Connect" button next to the name of the Amber X you wish to connect to your NAS device.
3. On the Amber X Dashboard, click on the "Control Panel" icon, then select the “Local Common Folder” tab.
4. The Local Common Folder page will show up to the right. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the "Network Drive" option, as shown below.
5. Click the "Add Drive" button, the following screen will then pop-up. Add the server IP or host name of the NAS device you wish to connect to, followed by clicking the "Connect" button.
6. If the Amber X successfully connects to the NAS, the next step is to login to the drive using your username and password credentials for the NAS.
7. When the drive successfully connects, you will see the folder options to add the drive. Each folder will need to be added individually to the Amber X.
8. Once completed, you will see the drive you added under the network drive list. If adding more drives, you can click the "Add Drive" button and follow the above process again.
How to allow access to the drive remotely via the Amber iX app
- After the drive is added, you can navigate to the "File Explorer" tab on the left side of the page. This will open the “File Explorer”, where you will see the network drives connected to the Amber.
2. You can then select the drive you would like to open and view. Once open you can work with the files.
3. If you wish to share the folder with other users and access it via the Amber iX app you will need to export the drive. You will see the “Allow Remote Access” button as shown below.
4. After you click that button to allow access, you will get the following pop-up. Confirm and you will see a completion pop-up. This will allow you to access the remote drive through the Amber iX app, wherever you have an internet connection. If you wish to have additional network drives accessible, follow the steps above for each drive.
