Photos Showing a Different Date than when they were Actually Taken
A photo may show a different date from when they were actually taken if the photo does not have the "captured date" from EXIF data. In this case, Amber X will substitute the file modification time for the date/time of the photo.
If viewing photos in Amber X using a file explorer (ex. Windows File Explorer on a Samba mounted folder or Mac Finder in an AFP folder), there will be options to see additional date information. The most common ones are file creation time and file modification time. Neither of these is the same as photo capture time stored in the EXIF header of your photo. File creation time will always be the date/time the file was first copied into amber X (every file system used in all major operating systems enforces this rule). File modification time, on the other hand, can be preserved from the source file when copying into another file system but is decided by the app that does the copying. Amber iX helps you preserve the file modification time when you use its backup option, or when you use the copy command in Amber iX, or simply drag/drop a file into the amber iX app. Beware that not all apps preserve file modification time when copying files (since we provide the samba and AFP options, we can face other apps that do the copying and it is then beyond our control whether the file modification time is preserved or not). The file creation time (not the same as photo capture time) is never a good choice for photo time.
